| 内容記述 | モダンデザインが普及する前の、ヨーロッパの都市の主要建築は、多くの装飾を持った古典的な様式建築である。開国によって、日本でも、明治維新直前から、昭和の初期まで、多くの西欧風様式建築が建設された。こうした建築の、明治初期の主な設計者は、明治政府によるお雇い外国人建築家で、外国人から建築を学習した日本人建築家が、その跡を継いでいく。その中の、代表的な人物が、英国人のジョサイア・コンドル、片山東熊、辰野金吾等である。この論文は、これらの建築家による作品の装飾についての研究をするためのもので、目的は、日本で、洋風建築に多く使われてきた装飾要素を抽出し、どのような装飾スタイルが、日本人に受け入れられてきたかを確認し、分析することである。西欧の装飾文様と、日本の伝統的な装飾文様との関連性についての考察も、目的の一つである。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | In Europe, before the infiltration of Modern Design, the architecture of large-scale city buildings was almost all classical in style, with many decorations. In Japan, as the country opened to western influence from just before the Meiji Restoration to the Early Showa Era, many Western classical style buildings were built. In the Early Meiji Era, the main designers of buildings were foreign architects hired by the Japanese government, or Japanese architects who had successfully studied architecture under foreigners. Representative architects from this period are Josiah Conder, Toukuma Katayama, and Kingo Tatsuno. I have investigated the characteristics of Western classical style architecture designed by these architects. My purposes are to confirm the elements of ornamentation frequently used in Japan, to analyze the style of ornamentation accepted by the Japanese people, and to consider the relationships between traditional Japanese ornamentation and Western ornamentation. | |||||||
