| 内容記述 | モダンデザインの発展経過を観るに、歴史様式の混乱状態が口火となり様々な思潮やデザインが登場し、1920年代後半には現代に直結するメインストリームに収束し波及が始まる。本研究は、その経過をあらしめた必然的社会背景を観ることで、社会とデザインの関係をあぶり出す一連の研究の6稿目である。今稿は前稿に続き、バウハウス流モダニズムを体現した高級家庭雑誌die neue linie を取り上げ、ナチ体制下のモダニズムの様相の一端を観察する。一般に、モダニズム運動はナチの登場で進路を断たれたと概括されるが、ナチの思惑もからみ、モダニズムが体制に利用されることで命脈を保てた面も明らかになる。つまりdie neue linie は、対外的には国際社会向けの体制の仮面となり、国内的には消費生活の豊かさという幻影を、国民に与える道具化したのである。それは編集陣営の戦略の結果でもあった。つまり、ナチ体制下での雑誌存命策は、コンテンツでの消極的迎合と誌面デザインでの抵抗、という二股戦略であった。この戦略が結果的にナチの思惑と重なったのである。戦争突入とともに、体制迎合的コンテンツが増加するものの、検閲を逃れやすいヴィジュアル・デザインには、贅沢な誌面でのバウハウス流モダンデザインが、廃刊まで貫かれている。用紙不足により43年に廃刊を迎えるが、読者にとってdie neue linie は、エレガンスとエリート性の体現であり続けたのである。保守系高級家庭誌に表れたモダンデザインは、アヴァンギャルド性が希薄になり、ステイタスを明示するアイテム化の様相を帯びる。本稿は、後に爆発的波及をみせるモダンデザインのその直前の歩みを、家庭雑誌に追いかけるものである。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper, 6 th issue of the serial work, Behind the Evolution of Modern Design, reports again in more detail the 1930's social and cultural circumstances surrounding die noie linie, a German luxurious family magazine. Since its 1929 launching there had existed a close contact between die noie linie and Bauhaus, a leading studio of modern design. Besides Walter Gropius, the founder of the studio, a lot of superb Bauhaus alumni were associated in this magazine as for designers and contributors. Their passion for modernity made this magazine well composed of conservative luxury and avant-garde modernity; The editorial concept had been settled in domesticated avant-garde, which the Nazis could manage to pass over or could not perceive as violation against the Nazis aesthetic code that is harsh hatred for avant-garde. This ambivalent editorial concept was one of the available tactics for survival in these politically hard days for the press field. Not just passing over but on the contrary the Nazis is seen to try to take advantage of the modernity of this magazine as a useful mask toward foreign countries disguising the actual ill condition of speech and writing control. Also toward German people, the mask visualized an illusion that wide range of luxurious commodities ware in market. Consequently this contradictory editorial concept proved effective to the spread of avant-garde modern design. Once the modern design coming out on conservative luxurious pages, formerly considered leftwing or avant-garde; definitely unworthy for housing design or furnishing design, it became tinged with the flavor of the Establishment, equivalence of elegance and elite status. | |||||||
